| Prefixes often indicate | number, position, direction, time, negation. BIpedal, SUBcutantious, INTRAvenous, PROgnosis, Atypical. |
| Combining vowels can be used in between all parts of a word except | Between a prefix and a word root |
| When are combing vowels commonly used | When there is no vowel between the root word and the suffix, and between word roots when there is no vowel. |
