| relative location | Where something is in relation to other places (e.g., "next to the park" or "north of the river"). |
| primary source | A document or object that was created during the time being studied, like a diary or photograph. |
| export | A good or product that a country sells to another country. |
| developing country | A country with lower living standards, less technology, and a growing economy. |
| physical processes | Natural events like weather, erosion, or earthquakes that change the Earth's surface. |
| physical map | A map that shows natural features like mountains, rivers, and lakes. |
| political map | A map that shows countries, states, and cities, as well as their borders. |
| secondary source | Information that was created after an event by someone who was not there, like a textbook or article. |
| import | A good or product that a country buys from another country. |
| underdeveloped country | A country that has very low income, limited industrialization, and few services for people. |
| tariff | A tax that a government puts on goods coming into or going out of a country. |
| urban/urbanization | Urban means a city or town. Urbanization is the process of more people moving to live in cities. |
| rural | Areas in the countryside, often with fewer people and more open land, like farms or small villages. |
| economy | The system in which a country or region produces, sells, and buys goods and services. |
| free enterprise system | An economic system where people can start businesses, buy and sell freely, and compete for profit, with limited government control. |
| limited government | A government whose power is restricted by laws, laws apply to the leaders |
| unlimited government | A government where leaders have total control and there are no limits on their power. |
| culture | The way of life of a group of people, including their beliefs, traditions, language, and customs. |
| transportation barrier | A natural feature, like a mountain or river, that makes it harder to travel or transport goods. |
| transportation corridor | A path or route, like a highway or river, that makes it easier to travel or move goods. |
