| Anthropology | The study of human life and culture based on artifacts and human fossils. |
| Hominid | Humans and other humanoid creatures that walk upright. |
| Homo sapiens sapiens | "Wise, Wise Humans" A species that appeared in Africa between 150,000 and 200,000 years ago. First anatomical modern human. |
| Out of Africa theory | Replacement theory. When Homo sapiens sapiens began spreading out of Africa 100,000 years ago. Replacing others in Europe and Asia. |
| Domestication | Adapted to life with and to the advantage of humans. |
| Paleolithic | Relating or denoting to the early Stone age. |
| Neolithic | Relating or denoting to a later part of the Stone age. |
| Catalhuyuk | Is a tell of an early Paleolithic and Neolithic proto-city in Southern Anatolia which existed from approximately 7500 BC to 6400 BC and flourished around 7000 BC. |
| Surplus food | The quantity of food that we grow or make that exceeds the demand. |
