Honors History study

TermDefinition
Archaeology The study of past civilizations through an analysis of the items people left behind.
Anthropology The study of human life and culture based on artifacts and human fossils.
Hominid Humans and other humanoid creatures that walk upright.
Homo sapiens sapiens "Wise, Wise Humans" A species that appeared in Africa between 150,000 and 200,000 years ago. First anatomical modern human.
Out of Africa theory Replacement theory. When Homo sapiens sapiens began spreading out of Africa 100,000 years ago. Replacing others in Europe and Asia.
Domestication Adapted to life with and to the advantage of humans.
Paleolithic Relating or denoting to the early Stone age.
Neolithic Relating or denoting to a later part of the Stone age.
Catalhuyuk Is a tell of an early Paleolithic and Neolithic proto-city in Southern Anatolia which existed from approximately 7500 BC to 6400 BC and flourished around 7000 BC.
Surplus food The quantity of food that we grow or make that exceeds the demand.
