| involuntary muscles | Muscles not movable at will. |
| smooth muscles | Fibrous muscle of internal organs that acts involuntarily. |

| cardiac muscle | Striated involuntary muscle of the heart. |
| fascia (pl., fasciae | Sheet of fibrous tissue that encloses muscles. |
| Flexion | the bending of the limb |
| Extension | the straightening of the limb |
| Rotation | the circular movement of part |
| Abduction | movement away from the body |
| Adduction | movement toward the body |
| Supination | a turning up |
| Pronatin | a turning down |
| Eversion | moving sole of foot outward |
| Inversion | moving sole of foot inward |
| Dorsiflexion | bending up (as of the ankle) |
| Plantar flexion | bending down (as of the ankle) |
| ankylosis | Stiffening of a joint, especially as a result of disease |
| arthrogram | An x-ray of a joint |
| craniotomy | Incision into the skull |
| brachiocephalic | Related to both the arm and the head. |
| bursitis | Inflammation of a bursa |
| cervicodynia | Neck pain. |
| chondroplasty | Surgical repair of cartilage |

| myelocyst | Cyst that develops in bone marrow. |
| osteoarthritis | Arthritis with loss of cartilage. |
| patellectomy | Excision of the patella. |
| sternodynia | Sternum pain. |
| synovitis | Inflammation of a synovial joint. |
| vertebroarterial | Relates to a vertebra and an artery or to a vertebral artery. |
