Medical terms for class

TermDefinition
High blood pressure When the pressure in your blood vessels is too high.
Low red blood cell count(anemia) A problem of not having enough healthy red blood cells or hemoglobin to carry oxygen to the body’s tissue.
Acute bronchitis(bronchitis) Occurs when the airways of the lungs swell and produce mucus in the lungs.
Non-Hodgkin lymphoma(lymphoma) A form of malignant lymphoma distinguished from Hodgkin lymphoma only by the absence of binucleate giant cells.
Lou gehrig’s disease A progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.
NICU A hospital ward or department equipped and staffed to provide intensive care to dangerously ill or premature newborn babies.
SOAP Used for the four types of different information documented by a health care provider in a medical note.
MRI Magnetic resonance imaging; to use of nuclear magnetic resonance of protons to produce proton density images.

Bx Biopsy
Lymphoma A neoplasm of lymph tissue that is usually malignant; one of the four major types of cancer
Bronchitis An inflammation of the membrane lining the bronchial tubes
Hypertension High blood pressure
Barlow’s maneuver Dislocation on abduction of hip
Branham’s sign Pressing on proximal portion of AV fistula results in bradycardia
