Push/pull Factors a factor that either pushes people from an area or pulls them to want to move to a particular area.
Canal man-made waterway connecting two larger bodies of water
Delta fan-like landform made of deposited sediment, left by a river that slows as it enters the ocean.
Island a body of land surrounded by water.
Isthmus a narrow strip of land, bordered on both sides by water, connecting two larger bodies of land.
Mountain natural elevation of the earth's surface with steep sides and greater height that a hill
Peninsula a point of land extending into an ocean or lake.
Valley low land between hills or mountains.
Equator the imaginary line that encircles the globe, dividing the earth into northern and southern halves.
Prime Meridian the imaginary line at zero meridian used to measure longitude east to west and dividing the earth's east and west halves.
Nation a group of people with a common culture living in a territory and having a strong sense of unity.
State a political term describing an independent unit that occupies a specific territory and has full control of its internal and external affairs.
Democracy type of government in which citizens hold political power either directly or through elected representatives.
Dictatorship type of government in which an individual or a group holds complete political power.
Christianity the chrtistian religion founded on the lift and teaching of Jesus Christ.
Islam the religious faith of Muslims, based on the words and religious system founded by the prophet Muhammad and taught by the Koran.
Polytheistic believe in more that one god.
Monotheistic believe in one god.
Buddism a religion that originated in India about 500 BC and spread to China, where it grew into a major religion by 400 AD.
