| Napoleon | Emperor of the French. Responsible for many French Revolution reforms as well as conquering most of Europe. He was defeated at Waterloo, and died several years later on the island of Saint Helena. |

| Henry VIII | King of England who transformed his country into a Protestant nation during the Reformation. |
| William and Mary | King and Queen of England from 1689 to 1702. They were placed on the throne as a result of the Glorious Revolution of 1688, and ruled as limited monarchs. |
| Peter the Great | Czar of Russia. He was responsible for the westernization of Russia in the 18th century. |
| Simon Bolivar | Latin American revolutionary responsible for the ousting of Spain from much of South America during the 19th century. He is considered to be the most important figure in the fight for Latin American independence. |
| George Washington | Leader of the American Revolution who would later become the first President of the United States. |
| Miguel Hidalgo | a Mexican priest and a leader of the Mexican War of Independence. |
| Karl Marx | German political philosopher and writer. Coauthor with Friedrich Engels of The Communist Manifesto which described the new philosophy of scientific socialism, which is the basis for modern communism. |
| Thomas Jefferson | An enlightened thinker who wrote the Declaration of Independence. |
| Machiavelli | Italian historian, statesman, and political philosopher of the Renaissance. His greatest work is The Prince, a book of political advice to rulers in which he describes the methods that a prince should use to acquire and maintain political power. |
| Stalin | The General Secretary of the Soviet Communist Party from 1922 until 1953. Known for his brutality in dealing with opponents and his failed policies of collectivism that caused widespread famine across the Soviet Union. |
| Shakespeare | English poet and playwright. He wrote 37 plays between 1590 and 1613. His plays reflect the ideas of individualism and the unconquerable human spirit, and most of them are still performed today. |
