| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| anatomy | the scientific study of the structure of organisms including their systems , organs, and tissues |
| Body systems | group of organs that work together to preform a certain task |
| lymphatic system | intracellular Fulda [ lymph ] and plays a key role in supplementing immune systems by transporting pathogens to lymph nodes |
| blood becomes a lymph | as cells add and subtract substances to it |
| lymph's can transport what | cancerous cells from one place to another |
| lymph's | fluid between the cells of the human body , very similar to plasma but not the same |
| lymph's act as what | a carrier service for the immune system . redistributes key items like proteins throughout the body to be used again |
| lymphatic system + what = circulatory system | cardiovascular system |
| cardiovascular system | touches every other system on a cell to cell basis , includes the heart and vessels which = veins , arteries and capillaries , it carries nutrients and gasses throughout the body and helps regulates body temperature |
| veins | towards heart , away from capillaries , thin walls. superficial. no pulse very low pressure . can stretch or constrict due to the amount of blood . valves are necessary to keep blood flowing in the right direction |
| arteries | away from heart, towards capillaries . always have a pulse. have thicker walls , due to pressure exerted during contraction of ventricles |
| pulmonary circulation | (right side) deoxygenated blood |
| systemic circulation | (left side ) oxygenated blood |
| blood pressure | describes the force the aqueous blood exerts on the arterial walls |
| blood flow | body --> LVC/SVC --> RA-- (tricuspid valve )--> RV--(pulmonary valve ) --> pulmonary artery --> lungs --> pulmonary ventricle --> LA ( bicuspid) -->LV --(aortic valve ) --> aorta --> body |
| the heart has 3 types of tissues | epicardium, myocardium, endocardium |
| epicardium | outside , supply muscle, of the heart with blood |
| myocardium | middle thick muscle, responsible for contraction |
| endocardium | inner , smooth keeps blood from clotting as passing through the heart |
| pericardium | is a fibrous, fluid filled sac surrounding the heart ( beating in a low friction environment ) |
