Egypt had been apart of the Ottoman Empire so he gained control of Egypt and established a separate state Muhammad Ali
Explored inner Africa for 30 years, then disappeared and was later found by Stanley living amongst the natives. He sparked Europe's scramble for African colonization in the 19th century Livingstone
In 1890's he promoted a nonviolent resistance to British rule which led to an Independent India Gandhi
