cerebral palsy (CP) a term applied to a group of disorders characterized by paralysis (palsy) that is caused by a defect in the motor region of the brain (cerebral)
convulsion a seisure
developmental disability a severe, permanent physical or mental disability that occurs before 22 years of age
diplegia similar body parts are affected on both sides of the body; paralysis of both arms or both legs
epilepsy a condition that produces brief disturbances in the brain's normal electrical functions
seizure the violent and sudden contractions or tremors of muscles; convulsion
spastic uncontrolled contractions of skeletal muscles
