secondary source Information gathered by someone who did not take part in or witness an event
timeline linear representation of important events in the order they occurred
BC/BCE Events that happened before year one
BC- before Christ
BCE- before common era
AD/CE Events that happened after year one
AD- anno domini (in the year of the lord)
CE- common era
circa c. about; at an estimated historical time period
decade, century, millenium 10 years, 100 years, 1,000 years
