Body Cavities

TermDefinition
Cranial Cavity (dorsal) contains the brain
Spinal Cavity (dorsal) contains the spinal column
Thoracic Cavity (ventral) protects the heart, lungs, esophagus, and major blood vessels that run through the chest. Diaphragm separates thoracic and abdominal cavity
Abdominal cavity (ventral) contains the stomach, liver, spleen, gallbladder, pancreas, and parts of the large intestine
Pelvic Cavity (ventral) contains the urinary bladder, portions of the large intestine, and the reproductive organs
