| prefix | Comes before a word root &modifies its meaning by adding information such as presence or absence, location, number, or size |
| suffix | A word ending that comes after a word root & adds to or changes the meaning of the word root |
| unique plural endings | Distinctive Greek or Latin word endings that indicate more than one |
| word root | Establishes the basic meaning of a medical term |
