QuestionAnswer
What is verbal plenary inspiration? Verbal: the words of Scripture. God used the vehicle of words and language to reach humanity with His revelation. Plenary: “complete.” Every word of the original writings was exactly what God determined to use in expressing His perfect revelation of himself and of His plans to redeem humanity. “All Scripture [. . .]” is inspired of God (2 Timothy 3:16). Inspiration: God’s direct and personal involvement in giving us His revelation. The entire phrase “inspiration of God” literally means “God-breathed.”
What is biblical inerrancy? accurately holds that every word of the original writings of the Bible was exactly what God wanted for humanity to receive. Since it was from God, who is the Source of Truth, every word of the originals was true in every way, including morally, theologically, and factually.
What is biblical infallibility? correctly holds that the Bible has not failed to accomplish what it was intended to say theologically. Care should be used with this word, however, since some who reject biblical inerrancy use this word to allow for moral relativism and to wrongly claim factual errors, such as in areas of science and history.
What is general revelation? given generally as a witness to all humanity: 1. Creation/Nature—Psalm 19:1-6; 97:6; Acts 14:17; 17:24-28 2. God’s Providence through History— Psalm 67; Daniel 2:19-23, 27-29 3. God’s Moral Law Revealed through Human Conscience—Romans 1:18-32; 2:14-15

What is the attribute of God’s self-existence? Exodus 3:14 Only He has life in himself.  Put another way, He is BEING—while everything else has being.
What is the attribute of God’s sovereignty? Isaiah 44:6 Absolute rule—God has all power and all authority and all freedom to do anything that His wisdom and will determines.
What is the attribute of God’s immanence? 1 Kings 8:27 God is also infinite in relationship to space.  He lives beyond space and time; though he can function within space and time, He is not limited by it. Only material things exist in space and time.
What is the attribute of God’s immutability? Malachi 3:6; James 1:17 His nature never changes though His responses to our actions do change.  Hebrews 13:8—He is the same forever in His nature and attributes. He can never improve or decline.
What is the attribute of God’s omniscience? Psalm 139:1-6
What is the Trinity—Consubstantial? God is eternally one being—of one substance. The three persons of the Trinity are not independent and not self-existent. One person of the Trinity cannot be God without the other two persons. Consider John 10:38; 14:9-10; 17:11, 22 and Romans 8:9.

We are all subject to the Adamic Covenant of Works in contrast to the Covenant of Grace. Through the broken covenant, sin was transmitted. Distinguish between the Moral-Influence, the Ransom, the Government, and the Penal-Substitution Theories of the Atonement. Moral-Influence: God did not demand payment for sin, rather in love He graciously forgave humanity; the Cross/Christ’s death serves as demonstration of God’s great love, motivates and inspires human heart to repentance, faith, and morality. The Ransom: our sin places us under Satan’s dominion and bondage. God in His love offered His Son, His death being ransom paid to Satan to purchase captive man out of Satan’s claims. Satan lost both the ransom and captives through the Resurrection. The Government: In death of Christ, God gave us “ God would go to uphold moral order of universe” . Christ did not die in our place, but on our behalf as a substitute for the penalty of sin and an example of God’s attitude toward sin. the Penal-Substitution: Christ, bearing penalty of sin, truly died in our stead, we who were depraved and unable to save ourselves before a holy and righteous God. The finished work of Christ is put to the sinners account through repentance and faith.
