| Atheism | The belief that God does not exist |
| Ethnic religion | A religion concentrated to a particular setting and does not seek out converts |
| Monotheism | The belief in and worship of only one God |
| Pilgrimage | A journey to a place considered sacred for religious purposes |
| Polytheism | Belief in or worship of more than one God |
| Universalizing religion | A religion that attempts to appeal to all people, not just those living in a particular location |
| Hearth | A center where cultures developed and from which ideas and traditions spread outward |
| Relocation diffusion | A spread of a cultural trait by people who migrate and carry their cultural traits with them to a new place. |
| Hierarchical diffusion | Spread of culture outward from the most interconnected places or from centers of wealth and importance or powerful people. |

| Catholicism | Branch of Christianity that is dominant in France, Spain, and Latin America |

| Zionism | the movement to establish a Jewish state in Palestine |
| Jerusalem | This city is home to some of the holiest sites for Christians, Muslims, and Jews |
| Agnosticism | Belief that nothing can be known about whether God exists |
| Branch | A large and fundamental division with a religion |
| Fundamentalism | Literal interpretation and strict adherence to basic principles of a religion |
| Judaism | monotheistic religion of the Jewish people. |
| Islam | monotheistic religion centered around the Quran and the teachings of Muhammad |
| Buddhism | a widespread Asian religion or philosophy, founded by Siddhartha Gautama |
| Hinduism | major religious and cultural tradition of South Asia, considered the oldest currently practiced religion in the world |
