What happened in France, America and Britain during the French Revolution

Which two Stuart kings claimed throne by divine right but ruled unfairly in England? Charles I and James I
What made Charles I and James I bad rulers? They spent money, forced loans from nobles, imprisoned enemies with no trial, forced quarting troops, prosecuted puritans and dissolved parliament.
What did the Petition of Rights say? Rulers couldn't tax or imprison people without consent of Parliament.
How long did the Short Parliament last? Three weeks.
What did the Long Parliament do while it could? Abolished special courts, created trenial bill, ended illegal taxation, executed archbishop Laud and created 19 propositions.
When did the English Civil War officially start? When Charles I marches into Parliament upset about what happened during the Long Parliament.
Why did King George III start taxing colonists? England was out of money from the French and Indian War(7 Years War).
What was the "Boston Massacre?" Colonists were throwing rocks and snowballs at British soldiers, so one person opened fire causing others too. 5 colonists died.
What was the Boston Tea Party? Colonists threw millions of dollars of tea into the harbor upset at the outrageous tea tax.
When, why and how was the Declaration of Independence written? July 4, 1776. To declare America independent from England. Representatives from the colonies met in Philadelphia, including John Adams and George Washington.
Why did it seem like Britain would win? 1/3 of the colonies were Loyalists and Britain had a larger army and more money.
Who helped America fight against Britain? France, Netherlands and Spain.
What did the Treaty of Paris do? It declared America as independent and set Mississippi river as western frontier.
Why did Louis XVI call the Estate General after 175 years? He was afraid of the Revolutionaries after Charles I was beheaded.
In what ways did the 1st and 2nd estate receive better treatment? They were nobles and priests and they had the 30% of best land although they only took up 2% of the population.
What did the Tennis Court Oath say? That the people involved would not disband until Constitution written.
What is the bourgeoisie? The middle class consisting of bankers, merchants and manufacturers.
What caused the most amount of economic trouble in France? Government spent more money than they had and constant food shortages.
How did the "Cahiers" help? They gave each estate a chance to write down their troubles in a notebook, or Cahier, that Louis paid attention to.
What was the storming of the Bastille? On July 14, 1789, 800 Parisans ordered to be let into Bastille, but the commander refused and broke fire on crowd, causing revolutionaries to declare a revolution.
What was The Great Fear? Peasants were afraid of other peasants attack towns and homes(mostly for food).
What was the Declaration of the Right of Man and the Citizen? Stated that all people were equal and modeled America's Declaration of Independence. It began the saying of "Liberty, Equality and Fraternity."
What was the Women's March to Versailles? Women for Paris walked to Versailles screaming for bread. When they arrived there they wouldn't leave until the king agreed to move to Paris for a shorter commute.
What did the Civil Constitution do? It ended papal authority but allowed bishops and priests to be elected officials. This made many people upset, including the pope.
What did the Constitution of 1791 do? It set up a limited monarchy and gave the legislative assembly power to make laws, collect taxes and decide on problems with war and peace.
Who were Emigres? Nobles, clergy and others who tried to escape France.
How did Louis XVI die? He was put on trial and proven guilty by one vote, so he was put on the guillotine.
What did Jean-Paul Marat do? He published "Friend of the People" but attacked Girondists, so one of them, Charloette Corday, killed him in his thinking/writing place- the bathtub.
What did George Jacques Danton do? He challenged other European Monarchs, and began Reign of Terror, so he was executed.
What was the Reign of Terror? A time period where people were put on hasty trials and then Guillotined if proven guilty, which most were.
What did Maxmillion Robespierre do? He was the head of the Committee of Public Safety, but had very high standards so was executed, making France happy.
