Ancient Rome

| consul | a chief executive in Ancient Roman government |
| praetor | an official in Ancient Roman government who is in charge of enforcing civil law |
| republic | a form of government where the leader is not a monarch and SOME of the citizens are allowed to vote |
| patricians | major landowners who made up the ruling class in Ancient Rome |
| Twelve Tables | the first code of laws in Ancient Rome that was adopted in 450 BC |
| Law of Nations | this evolved from Natural Law, or laws based on reason |
| senate | a group of patricians who would serve in government for life |
| dictator | an absolute ruler (ie Julius Caesar) |
| imperator | a commander in the Ancient Roman Republic |
| triumverate | a government run by three people with equal power |
| Pax Romana | the peace that existed between nationalities within the Ancient Roman Empire |
| Latin | the language of Ancient Rome |
| Jesus | the founder of Christianity |
| New Testament | the books in the Christian bible describing the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth |
| Punic Wars | a series of three armed conflicts between Ancient Rome and Carthage |
