| Ammunition | Is the material, fired, scattered, dropped, or detonated from any weapon or weapon system |
| Allied Powers | WWI alliance that included Britain, France, Russia and the U.S |
| Armistice | An agreement to end fighting in a war |
| Atrocities | Brutal acts of violence against civilians |
| Belligerents | Nations at war |
| Central Powers | WWI alliance that included Germany, Austria- Hungary (A-H), Ottoman Empire, Bulgaria |
| Contraband | Materials deemed illegal |
| Fourteen Points | A Plan designed by U.S. President Wilson to bring about lasting peace |
| Militarism | The glorification and expansion of military strength |
| Mobilize | To prepare a military for war to move towards war |
| Munitions | Military equipment and supplies, especially bombs, shells and guns |
| Propaganda | Information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view |
| The Balkans | Region of southeast Europe known for great ethnic diversity and conflict |
| The Bolsheviks | Led by Lenin was a Russian communist party that came to power after the Russian Revolution |
| Treaty of Versailles | Peace treaty after WWI that dealt harshly with Germany |
| Ultimatum | The threat of harmful action if specific demands are not met |
| War of attrition | A strategy designed to wear down and outlast the enemy |
