How much water do you need in a day? | 1500-2000 ml for normal fluid balance, maintenance of cell function, regulate temperature and deliver nutrients. |
What is fat soluble? | Nutrients stored in fat. |
What is water soluble? | Nutrients stored in water. |
What is the conversion of OZto ML? | 1 OZ equals 30 ML |
IV therapy | delivers blood and meds to body, hydration, nutrition, replaces minerals and vitamins, provides hyperalimentation |
What is hyperalimentation? | It is the complete delivery of nutrients through the veins, bypassing the digestive system. |
Bolus feeding | 15-20 mins, 3-4 times a day. Kangeroo pump or gravity drip is used. |
Naso-gastric is: | nose to stomach |
Nas0-intestinal is: | nose to small intestine |
gastrostomy tube is: | surgically implanting a tube in the stomach. |
jejunostomy tube is: | tube surgically put in the small intestine and jejunum. |
gastro-jejunostomy | connects the stomach to the jejunum |

Minerals | Needed for tooth and bone formation. |
