What was the purpose of the pyramids? Egyptian tombs built for the pharaohs while they were still alive, to protect the bodies from floods, animals and tomb robbers.

What was the difference between the lower and uppoer class homes? The lower class homes were one floor and had fewer rooms than that of the upper class. The upper class also had two story homes.
Why did the Egyptians use make-up and oils? To protect their skin from the harsh weather and environment
Who did all of the work for the pharaoh? the vizier

What was built during the Middle Kingdom to assist with the flooding of the Nile River? canals
Who was Amon-Re? The sun god, who took the form of a hawk
What was the Book of the Dead? a book that contained magic spells to assist the Egyptians in the afterlife
What was the role of the scribe? A person who could write. He recorded the important information for the Egyptians.
What was the Rosetta Stone? It was a very important discovery made by the french. The Rosetta stone was found with three different languages on it, hieroglyphics, demonic writing and greek. It provided historians with the opportunity to break the code of hieroglyphics
How old was King Tut when he became ruler? 9 years old
Who was Hatshepsut? She was the queen to Thutmose the II, and step mother to Thutmose III. She promoted trade and was almost erased from history by her stepson, after she took the throne from him. She acted as pharaoh, dressing the part
What did Sekhmet create? the desert
Who was the god of the underworld? Osiris
What type of religion did the Egyptians have? polytheistic
How was the brain removed from the body during mummification? It was broken down with a hook through the nose and then pulled out
What organ remained in the mummy? the heart
Who did the cooking in the middle class and upper class? middle class = housewives and upper class = servants
Who wore jewelry? Everyone, both the rich and poor
What did Egyptians mainly depict within their art? daily life and religion
What was the difference between the dress of the poor and rich? The rich wore sheer robes and the poor wore clothing made of wool
