What is Immunology? Resistance to disease, specifically infectious disease.
What are the two basic components of the immune system? - The cellular: consisting of many types of cells such as leukocytes, and tissue cells. - Humoral: soluble substances which are normally present in plasma.
What is a large protein molecule found in a portion of the plasma that can bind to foreign molecules or antigens? Antibody
What type of immunity is non-specific, the first line of defense against invading organisms, and present at birth? Innate/Natural Immunity
What type of immunity involves phagocytic cells, macrophages, basophils, eosinophils, neutrophils, cytokines, and complement? Innate/Natural Immunity
What helps to regulate the immune response in terms of specificity, intensity, and duration? Cytokines
