Prayers for World

The the Book of Common Prayer

QuestionAnswer
For Joy in God's Creation - 1 O heavenly Father, who has filled the world with beauty: Open our eyes to behold your gracious hand in all your works; that, rejoicing in your whole creation, we may learn to serve you with gladness;
For Joy in God's Creation - 2 for the sake of him through whom all things were made, your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
For All Sorts and Conditions - 1 God, the creator and preserver of all, we humbly beseech you for all sorts and conditions of people; that you would be pleased to make your ways known unto them, your saving health unto all nations.
For All Sorts and Conditions - 2 More especially we pray for your holy Church universal; that it may be so guided and governed by your good Spirit,
For All Sorts and Conditions - 3 that all who profess and call themselves Christians may be led into the way of truth, and hold the faith in unity of spirit, in the bond of peace, and in righteousness of life.
For All Sorts and Conditions - 4 Finally, we commend to your fatherly goodness all those who are in any ways afflicted or distressed, in mind, body, or estate;
For All Sorts and Conditions - 5 that it may please you to comfort and relieve them according to their several necessities, giving them patience under their sufferings, and a happy issue out of all their afflictions. And this we beg for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.
For the Human Family - 1 God, you made us in your own image and redeemed us through Jesus your Son: Look with compassion on the whole human family; take away the arrogance and hatred which infect our hearts;
For the Human Family - 2 break down the walls that separate us; unite us in bonds of love; and work through our struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth;
For the Human Family - 3 that, in your good time, all nations and races may serve you in harmony around your heavenly throne; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
For Peace - 1 Eternal God, in whose perfect kingdom no sword is drawn but the sword of righteousness, no strength known but the strength of love:
For Peace - 2 So mightily spread abroad your Spirit, that all peoples may be gathered under the banner of the Prince of Peace, as children of one Father;
For Peace - 3 to whom be dominion and glory, now and for ever. Amen.
For Peace Among Nations Almighty God our heavenly Father, guide the nations of the world into the way of justice and truth, and establish among them that peace which is the fruit of righteousness, that they may become the kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
For Our Enemies - 1 God, the Father of all, whose Son commanded us to love our enemies: Lead them and us from prejudice to truth; deliver them and us from hatred, cruelty, and revenge;
For Our Enemies - 2 and in your good time enable us all to stand reconciled before you; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
