Medical Terms Primary Lesions

Macule, Macula (Freckle) Small, Flat, discolored area (spot or stain)
Patch (vitiligo) Larger, Flat, discolored area
Papule A small solid mass (pimple)
Plaque A solid mass on the surface of the skin
Nodule A larger solid mass
Vesicle A smaller blister
Bulla Bubble
Pustule Little blister/ Pus filled blister
Nodule A solid mass that extends deeper into the skin
Abscess A localized collection of puss in the body
