civilization complex societies that have cities, government, art, religion, class divisions and writing system.
Fertile Crescent fertile land in the Middle East stretching from Mediterranean to the Persian Gulf.

Sargon King of Akkadians in northern Mesopotamia.
Babylon Ancient city that is now present day Iraq.
Hammurabi's Codes a collection of over 200 laws.
Artisans skilled workers who made metal products or pottery.
Empire A group of many lands under ONE rule.
Ziggurat a temple used for worship.
Cuneiform the writing system that used wedge shaped marks cut into a clay tablet.
Hammurabi King of the Babylonians
Akkadians a group of people who took over Sumer and formed the first empire.
