Medical Terminology Terms

TermDefinition
Subjective The problem in the patients own words.
Objective Data Comprise patients physical exam, laboratory findings, and imaging studies performed at their visit.
Assessment A diagnosis, identification of a problem, or a list of possibilities for a diagnosis.
Plan A treatment with either medicine or a procedure, or collecting further data to get a more accurate diagnosis.
Exacerbation Patients problem is getting worse.
Lethargic Decreased level of consciousness. Indication that the patient is very ill.
Differential Diagnosis Lists of conditions the patient may have based on symptoms and results of an exam.
Prognosis Chances for things getting better or worse.
Pathogen Organism that causes the problem.
Mortality The risk for dying.
