What is an EZER KENEGDO? The Hebrew term is “equal match” Example: Eve and Adam were EZER KENEGDO’S for each other
What does it mean to be in the IMAGE AND LIKENESS OF GOD? It means that we are God’s sons and daughters and that we share certain traits in common with Him (free will and intellect is what we share in common)
What is DOMINION? DOMINION is the humans’ authority/responsibility over all creation
CREATION is what? Everything God created; everything that is not God
What is the PENTATEUCH? It is the first five books of the Bible (Torah)
What is TRADITION? TRADITION is a repeated ritual/celebration/action that is passed down to others
What is the CANON? It’s the official list of the books in the Bible
What are the meanings of these abbreviations, AD/BC? AD - Anno Domine (Year of our Lord) [IT’S NOT AFTER DEATH!!!!] BC - Before Christ
What is the VERNACULAR? The VERNACULAR is the common language in a given region (What’s your vernacular at home? Mine is Spanish :)
Who was ST. JEROME ST. JEROME translated the Bible’s that were in Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic into Latin
What is DIVINE INSPIRATION? It is the action in which the Bible was made by both God and humans (humans were inspired by God— they were not told like a puppet, but they were given inspiration)
What is SALVATION HISTORY? SALVATION HISTORY is God’s saving and redemptive action throughout human history, (THE overarching story of the Bible)
What is THEOLOGY? THEOLOGY is the study of God and His relationship with humanity
What were the ORIGINAL LANGUAGES of the Bible? Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic
What is the difference between the FATUAL and FIGURATIVE views on Genesis Creation stories View notes about how it was FACTUAL and FIGURATIVE! Use your notes to compare both: FATUAL - fact FIGURATIVE - truth Review the knowledge on how they are telling the same story, just in different terms
How do we interpret “DUST” and “BREATH”? What do they symbolize? The “DUST” is us physically (body) and the “BREATH” is our soul . We interpret this as the real you, how both body and soul are the REAL YOU!
