Estates General A group in France that was made up of representatives from each estate
aristocrats Nobles, lords, and wealthy landowners; the 2nd Estate
Louis XVI King of France who spent money on wars and who was weak and greedy
Reign of terror The period of the revolution where anyone thought to be against the revolution was killed
Marat Newspaper writer who called for more death
Absolute monarch A king or queen with total power
clergy Made up 1% of the population and paid no taxes; the 1st Estate
Robespierre Led the revolution during the reign of terror
