Franco-Prussian war a conflict between the Second French Empire and the Kingdom of Prussia;The Prussian and German victory brought about the final unification of Germany under King Wilhelm I of Prussia. marked the downfall of Napoleon III and the Second French Empire
Ems dispatch caused France to declare the Franco-Prussian War. The dispatch was an internal message from the Prussian King's vacationing site to Bismarck in Berlin, reporting demands made by the French ambassador, and thus it was Bismarck's statement to the press.
