Anatomy- Directional Terms examples

SUPERIOR The shoulders are superior to the arms
INFERIOR The arms are inferior to the shoulders
ANTERIOR The knees are on the anterior side of your legs
POSTERIOR The shoulder blades are on the posterior side of the body
MEDIAL The chest is medial to the arm
LATERAL The arms are lateral to the chest
SUPERFICIAL The ribs are superficial to the lungs
DEEP The bones are deep to the skin
PROXIMAL The knees are proximal to your toes
DISTAL The toes are distal to the knee
ANATOMICAL POSITION Upright, facing front, arms to side, palms and toes facing forward
