Medical Terminology

TermDefinition
Sequela A problem resulting from a disease or injury.
Etiology The cause.
Proximal Closer to the center. Proximal and approximate came from the same word meaning close.
Distal farther away from the center. Distal and distance come from the same word meaning far.
Caudal Toward the bottom. Latin for tail.
Dorsum The top of the hand or foot.
Sagittal divides the boy into hypothetical planes from right to left. Latin for arrow.
Coronal divides the body into hypothetical planes from front to back. Latin for crown.
Transverse Divides the body from top to bottom.
Ipsilateral Same side.
