Endocrinology (AC) The study of the endocrine system, it’s diseases, and specific secretions known as hormones.
Bariatric (AC) Relating to treatment of obesity; may also be used to describe a patient who is overweight beyond a certain Body Mass Index.
SOAP (AC) Subjective, Objective, Assessment, Plan.
Encephalopathy (AC) Any brain disease that alters the function of the brain or it’s structure.
Hematoma (AC) Collection of blood outside a blood vessel.
Homeostasis (AC) Equilibrium or balance within all body systems.
Hemostasis (AC) The stopping of blood flow.
Edema (AC) Swelling
C DIFF- Clostridium Difficile Colitis (AC) A disruption of healthy bacteria in the colon which is transmittable and may cause colon damage or result in death.
Bronchitis (AC) Inflammation of the bronchi in the lungs that causes coughing,
BMI Body Mass Index (AC) BMI is a to measure body fat based on height and weight as well as calculate risk with certain medical conditions.
A Fib- Atrial fibrillation (AC) Rapid irregular heart rhythm that causes poor blood flow.
CHF- Congestive heart failure (AC) Chronic condition in which the heart does not fill or pump blood adequately.
COPD- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (AC) Lung disease that progresses with time making it harder to breath.
Hypothyroidism (AC) Low thyroid hormone production due to disorder of endocrine system.
CVA- CerebroVascular Accident (AC) A Stroke, in which blood flow to the brain is stopped or interrupted and damage to the brain is caused.
TIA- Transient Ischemic Attack (AC) A minor stroke, where blood flow to the brain has been interrupted but symptoms usually end within the hour.
ESRD- End Stage Renal Dialysis (AC) Kidney failure resulting in the need for long term dialysis or a kidney transplant.
Hydrocephalus (AC) A build up of fluid within the cavities of the brain. (Water in the brain)
Pneumonia (AC) Inflammation of the lung primarily affecting the small air sacs called alveoli.
Gynecologist (AC) Provider who specializes in general woman’s health, disease and reproductive health.
Osteoporosis (AC) Condition in which bones become weak and brittle
Essential hypertension (AC) High blood pressure with no identifiable secondary cause
