Detente Easing of relations during the Cold War
Domino Theory Suggested a communist government in one nation would quickly lead to communist takeovers in neighboring states, each falling like a perfectly aligned row of dominos.
Cold War A state of political hostility between countries characterized by threats, propaganda, and other measures short of open warfare
Warsaw Pact A collective defense treaty signed in Warsaw, Poland, between the Soviet Union
Superpowers A state that cannot be ignored on the world stage and without whose cooperation no world problem can be solved.
