Why it began After the Fall of the Roman Empire
Achievements/Innovations -much Roman culture & knowledge was lost -called Dark Ages because governments were unstable, people weren't safe, arts and education were lost
Important Events Europe suffered disease and war Black Death- spread along Silk Road in 1328 killing millions of people Crusades- holy wars
Geography manors were self sufficient because they were able to grow enough food to take care of everyone (farms)
Form of Government/Social Structure kings ruled by what they believed was their "Divine Right" (thought God made them the king) feudal system (feudalism): social class systems -kings/queens- gave land to nobles -nobles- gave landed to knights, protection for kings -knights- gave land & protection to peasants; protection to nobles -peasants- provide food and services to knights
Religion Holy Wars- Christians fought Muslims to take back Holy Land church unified people & provided unity and hope church had a great influence over them and often battled the king
