Muslim Moors in Spain -Christians fight Muslims to regain control of Spain during the middle ages -Known as the Reconquista -Lasts for 700 years until Isabella of Castile & Ferdinand of Aragon marry & unite Spanish territories
Mongols in Russia -1200 Mongols took over Russian city-state -Over time the Russians united under Ivan III to overthrow the Mongols -Ivan III centralizes power & sets up capital in Moscow
Ivan the Great -Eastern Orthodox Church made headquarters in Moscow, Russia -City became political center and spiritual center -Called 3rd Rome
