Who is a Christian? a follower of christ
Seven Sacraments... baptism, reconciliation, eucharist, confirmation, matrimony, anointing of the sick, and holy orders
What is Baptism? cleanses us of original sin and sins we are sorry for
What is Confirmation? holy spirit makes us stronger to live and share faith in jesus
How does the holy spirit come to us in confirmation? bishop extends his hands over those to be confirmed, prays they receive the holy spirit, and anoints their head with chrism in the form of a cross
What does the bishop say when he confirms? bishop: (confirmation name), be sealed with the gift of the holy spirit teen: amen bishop: peace be with you teen: and with your spirit
Why are you anointed with chrism in the form of a cross? the cross shows the new task/mission may be difficult and that the confirmed may have to suffer like christ
Effects of Confirmation... increase in sanctifying grace & a spiritual character (helps to publicly profess and defend their faith)
How often may confirmation be received? once
In what form did the holy spirit appear to the apostles at the first pentecost? tongues of fire
Christians people who are called to follow the example of christ, put god first in our lives, and serve god, then our neighbors, then ourselves
Apostles 12 men to be jesus' close followers
Confirmation Rites presentation of the candidates, renewal of the baptismal promises, anointing of the candidates, and the laying on of the hands
