Explain how population growth affects pollution. When the population grows, pollution increases due to burning of fossil fuels, car emissions, overcrowding, etc.
What are the effects of Air Pollution? It can cause weather changes, acid rain, floods, drought, less sunlight, respiratory diseases, deaths, it can threaten a country’s food and water supply, workforce population, education and climate systems.
What environmental issue was China worried about when Beijing was awarded the 2008 Olympics? Air pollution related to the Asian Brown Cloud (respiratory problems)
What is causing air pollution in India and China’s rural areas? People burning fossil fuels, cow dung, wood indoors
What is the longest River in China? The Yangtze (Chaing Jiang)
What river is sacred to the Hindu religion? Ganges River
What are the effects of pollution along the Ganges? 80% of illnesses and 1/3 of all deaths are caused by diseases carried in the water, undrinking water, animals/fish die, sour/stinky smell and trash everywhere
Why has the need to develop more industry created problems along the Ganges River? India’s overpopulation and non-regulation of industrial waste have led to the pollution.
How does religion play a part in the pollution of the Ganges River? Hindus believe the river is sacred and therefore they dump bodies in the river or cremate their loved ones and dump them in the river.
What is the leading cause of death in China? Respiratory issues

What is the caste system? a belief that a social class is inherited in India
What things do Hinduism and Buddhism have in common? Both believe in reincarnation and karma

Why is Confucianism not considered a religion? It is a 2,500 year-old philosophy on how to live life; many people do not consider Confucianism to be a religion; it doesn’t include a god and it doesn’t discuss what happens after death – just how you live your life now.

What does “kami” mean? Which religion believes in the reverence of the “kami”? Kami are the divine spirit that followers of the Shinto's religion believe live in nature
What are the Confucian 5 basic relationships? ruler and subject, father and son, elder brother and younger brother, husband and wife, and friend and friend.
How do monsoons help/hurt India? Monsoons are helpful in bringing necessary rainfall to improve agriculture but when unpredictable, can cause flooding and destruction for India.
