1. What is Migration? Migration is the act of moving from one place to settle in another.
2. What were the main causes of Migration? The causes fell into three categories: Environmental, Economical, and Political.
3. What was the strongest factor in Migration? Environmental factors were the strongest in Migration.
4. What were push-pull factors? Push-pull factors were conditions that draw people to another location or cause people to leave their homelands and migrate to another region.
5. What were some main push factors, when it came to Migration? The main push factors were Climate changes, exhausted resources, drought, unemployment, slavery, religion, and war.
6. What were some pull factors, when it came to Migration? The main pull factors were Abundant land, new resources, good climate, employment opportunities, political and religious freedom.
7. Why was life in a newly populated area always changing? It had often changed because of the influence of new people.
8. What were some effects of Migration? Some effects were: Redistribution of the population may change population density, Cultural blending of languages or ways occurred, ideas and technologies may be shared, and more.
9. How do experts trace Migration? Experts trace the patterns of the movement of people over time by taking notes on the spread of languages.
10. Why is migration traced the way it is? It is similar to living things and evolves and changes in predicable ways,
11. Who were the Bantu-speaking peoples? The Bantu-speaking peoples were those who had spread their language and culture in Africa.
12. About when did the Bantu speakers begin moving to the south and east? Small groups of Bantu speaker began moving about 2,000 years ago.
13.What farming technique did the Bantu use? The farming technique that they had used was called the slash and burn.
14.When the Bantu had followed the Congo RIver through the rainforests why did they only farm at the riverbanks? The Bantu had only farmed at the riverbanks because that was the only place that provided enough sunlight to support agriculture.
15. What do experts suggest caused Migration? Experts suggest that once these people had developed agriculture, they were able to produce more than they could obtain by hunting and gathering
16. Why did the Bantu need more land? They needed more land because due to the enlarged population by the development of agriculture, the Bantu needed more land, to grow more crops.
17. What had occured when the Bantu speakers settled into an area? Many changes had occured when the Bantu speakers had settled into a new area.
18.Why were some areas into which the Bantu moved sparsely populated with other people? The other people were not engaged in Agriculture but were instead hunter-gatherers.
19. Who was known as the Mbuti and San? Both groups live a very simple life, they do not speak a Bantu language and their culture does not reflect the influence of the Bantu people.
20. What did the Bantu speakers do with the people they had joined? The Bantu speakers had exchanged ideas and intermarried with the people they joined
21. What did the intermingling of the Bantu cause? It has led to the creation of new cultures with unique customs and traditions.
22. What did the Bantu migration produce that still influences the political scene in eastern and southern Africa. The Bantu migrations had produced a great diversity of cultures, languages, and had had a unify influence on the continents.
