QuestionAnswer
What is the purpose of the depth gauge? It regulates the amount of timber cut.
Which chain component transfers drive from the sprocket to the chain? The drive-link.
What type of wood is the chisel profile best suited to? Softwood.
To what does the 'gauge' refer to? The width of the drive link.
What does the number on the drive link of an Oregon chain relate to? The ID number as shown on the Oregon filing table.
What does the number on the drive link of a Stihl chain relate to? The gauge of the chain.
What does the number on the depth gauge of a Stihl chain relate to? The pitch of the chain.
What is the function of the tie-strap and rivets? They hold the chain components together.
How is the pitch of a chain measured? Measure the distance between three rivets and divide by two.
