Define shoulder move

Elevation Lifting the shoulders toward the ears

Depression Moving the shoulders downward (toward feet)
What muscles are used to elevate the shoulders? Leavator scapulae, trapezius (upper division)
Adduction Moving the vertebral (medial) border of the scapula toward the spine. This happens when the shoulders are drawn backward in the “military posture.”
What muscles are used addicting the shoulders? Rhomboids, trapezius (middle division)
What muscles depress the shoulders? Trapezius, (lower division)
Abduction: Moving the vertebral border of the scapula away from the spine. This occurs when shoulders are rounded forward.
What muscles are used to abduct shoulders? Serratus anterior, Pectoralis Minor
Upward Rotation Moving the glenoid fossa in a superior & medial direction (or moving the inferior angle of the scapula in a superior & lateral direction)
What muscles are used to move shoulders in an upward rotation? Serratus anterior, trapezius
Downward Rotation Moving the glenoid fossa in an inferior & lateral direction (or moving the inferior angle of the scapula in an inferior & medial direction)
What muscles move the shoulders in a downward rotation? Rhomboids, perctorals minor
