Unit 2 Global History Extension

TermDefinition
Political Revolutions a great change in government, usually with an overthrow (take over/throw out) of a government (examples are the French Revolution and the American Revolution)
Non-Political Revolutions a great change in technology or ideas (such as the Enlightenment, the Scientific Revolution)
Agricultural Revolution The transformation of agriculture from traditional medieval farming to more productive, efficient, and mechanical methods of farming through scientific innovation and new techniques
Industrial Revolution Time when production of goods shifted from hand production methods to complex machines and factories began to use the assembly line
Manufacturing The process of making a large number of something
Laborer A description for someone who works
Manufactured goods a good that is produced mainly by the application of labour and capital to raw materials to make a finished product to sell
Natural resources Materials the occur in nature and can be used for economic gain (to make money) like forests, water, fertile land, oil, or coal (aka raw material)
Urbanization The process of making an area more city-like or many people moving to one area to make a big city
Assembly Line a production process that breaks the manufacture of a good into steps that are completed in a pre-defined sequence
Nationalism strong feelings of support for one's nation with the idea that your country's interests are superior
