Whose theory did Galileo support and why? Copernicus's heliocentric theory because it was proven by his telescope.
Why did the Catholic Church want Galileo to stop talking about the heliocentric theory? It went against the Church's geocentric theory.
What was Copernicus's theory called? The heliocentric theory.
What did John Calvin create? Predestination.
What is the Scientific Method? Step-by-step process to figure out whether a theory is correct.
What is the heliocentric theory? The theory that everything revolves around the sun.
What is the geocentric theory? The theory that everything revolves around Earth.
Who was Martin Luther? A German monk who wrote the 95 thesis.
How did the Catholic Church punish Martin Luther for his 95 thesis? The Church excommunicated him.
What were the 95 thesis? Arguments against what the Catholic Church was doing.
What happened to the Catholic Church because of Martin Luther's thesis? There was a schism; there were four more new divisions in the church.
Which division of the church is named after Martin Luther? The Lutheran Church.
What did King Henry 8 want from the Catholic Church (that he couldn't get)? A divorce.
What did King Henry 8 do because he couldn't get a divorce? He started the Church of England and broke away from the Catholic Church.
What was King Henry's dispute with the Pope of the Catholic Church? He wanted a divorce but that went against the morals of the Catholic Church.
What were indulgences? People could pay to have their sins erased so that they could go to heaven.
Why were indulgences unrealistic? Earlier, they could only be earned by doing a good deed, but the Church became greedy, and took money for the indulgences instead.
Who formed the Church of England, and why? King Henry 8 because he couldn't get a divorce from his original church.
What is the rhyme for King Henry 8's wives? Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived.
What is an epidemic? An outbreak of a rapidly spreading disease.
What is inflation? Rise in prices linked to rise in money available.
What is vernacular? The everyday language of ordinary people.
What is theocracy? A government run by religious leaders.
What does it mean to canonize someone? To recognize them as a saint.
What is a schism? A permanent division in the church.
