nation state

QuestionAnswer
democracy a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them.
absolutism the principle or the exercise of complete and unrestricted power in government.
divine right the doctrine that the right of rule derives directly from God, not from the consent of the people
monarchy supreme power by a single person.
constitutional monarchy A monarchy in which the powers of the ruler are restricted to those granted under the constitution and laws of the nation.
balance of power a distribution of forces among nations that no single nation is strong enough to dominate all the others.
boyar a member of a former privileged class in Romania.
czar an emperor or king.
