cyan/o- blue -osis condition cyanosis; bluish-purple discoloration
necr/o- dead tissue -osis condition necrosis; gray-black discoloration
cellul/o- cell -itis inflammation of cellulitis; infection/inflammation of connective tissues
lip/o- fat -oma mass/tumor lipoma; rounded growth of adipose tissue
syn- together -dactyly condition of fingers/toes syndactyly; skin and tissues between toes/fingers joined
melan/o- black -oma mass/tumor melanoma; melanocytes reproducing spreading cancer
scler/o- hard -derma skin scleroderma; too many abnormal epidermal cells produced
onych/o fingernail/toenail
^myc/o- fungus -osis onychomycosis; fungal infection of nail
cry/o- cold
^surg/o- operative procedure -ery process cryosurgery; liquid nitrogen on lesion to freeze and kill it
bi/o- living tissue -opsy process of viewing biopsy; remove all/part of skin to send for examination
rhytid/o- wrinkle -ectomy surgical removal rhytidectomy; removal of wrinkles
