Medical Terminology Chapter 2

TermDefinition
Differential Diagnosis List of possible causes for a patient's problem.
Sagittal Plane Divides the body into right & left "slices".
Supine Laying down on back.
Anatomic position Person standing facing forward, arms at sides with palms of hands facing forward.
Sequelae A problem resulting from a disease or injury.
SOAP Method The acronym for the standardized process of collecting Subjective history, gathering Objective data, formulating an Assessment and developing an action Plan.
Noncontributory Not related to the specific problem.
Afebrile To not have a fever.
NICU Neonatal intensive care unit
NPO Nothing by mouth
