phloem transports food in plants
xylem transports water and minerals up the stem to the leaves
diffusion movement of a substance from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration.
osmosis movement of water through a semi-permeable membrane from an area of high concentration to an area of lower concentration.
active transport the type of transport that uses energy to move substances from one area to the next.
solute the solid part of a solution that dissolves
solvent the liquid part of a solution that dissolves the solute
