lithotomy position patient lies on the back with knees bent and feet in the sturrips attached to the table. exmination of the female genitalia
fowlers position lies back on the table on which the head is elevatd 45 degree angle examines the head, neck and chest area saly draped from neck or underarms to feet
prone position lying face down on the table head turned to one side arms placed on the sides or bent at the elbow. can examine back, feet, or musculoskeletal system. stable for women in advnced stages of pregnancy
sims position patient lies on the left side, left leg slightly bent and left arm is placed behind the back so patients weight is resting primarily on the chest, right knee is bent and raised toward the head for support. used during rectal or anal exams also ued for per
knee-chest/knee-elbow position lying on the table facedown supporting the body ith the knees and chest, thighs should be at 90 degree angle and slightly seperated. examines the anal and perineal area during a proctological exam
proctologic postions or jackknife patient is bent at 90 degree angle used as an alternative to sim's position, prostrate exams
