ADDUCTION Medial movement toward the midline
ABDUCTION generally a lateral movement within the frontal plan that is away from the midline
MEDIAL ROTATION MOVES ANTERIOR SURFACE TO FACE MORE MEDIALLY( TOWARD THE MIDLINE)
ELEVATION A MOVEMENT wherein the body part moves superiority
Depression Occurs when the body part moves Inferiorly
Protraction A movement wherein the body part moves anteriorly
Perpendicular The orientation of the AXIS for movement within a plane
Nervous system Includes the brain, spinal cord, cranial and spinal nerves, sense organs, such as eyes and tongue; neurotransmitters
Endocrine System Includes the hypothalamus, pituitary, pineal, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenals, pancreatic islets, ovaries, testes, and hormones
Reproductive system Includes glads, gametes or Sex cells, the duct system, and male/female accessory organs and glands
Cardiovascular system Includes blood, blood vessels and heart
Lymphatic System Includes lymph, lymphatic vessels, structures, tissues, and cells
Respiratory cells Includes her nasal cavity and pharynx, larynx, treachia, bronchi, alveoli, and lungs
Digestive system Includes the oral cavity, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small and large intestines, and accessory structures, such as the pancreas, liver, and bladder
Urinary system Includes the kidneys, ureters, urethra, and urinary bladder
Anatomic position Position for reference: patient stands facing you, arms at the side, with palms facing forward
Anterior Farther or the front
Circumduction Series of movements that results in a circular motion
Contralateral Opposite side
Deep Away from the surface of the body
Depression Occurs when a body part moves inferiority
Distal Farther from the trunk of the body
Elevation A movement wherein the body parts moves superiority
Extension Generally a posterior movement within the Sagittal plane
Flexion Generally an anterior movement within the sagittal plane
Frontal Plane hats divides the body into front and back
Inferior Lower on the body, farther from the head
Inversion Turning the sole of your foot inward
Ipsilateral Same side
Kinesiology Study of movement
Lateral Away from the midline
Medial Closer to the middlen
Plane Flat surfaces that divide the body into green dimensions for up/down, left/right, Nemo front/back
Posterior Farther on the back
Pronation Movement that’s turns the palms down
Proximal Nearer to the trunk of the body
Retraction A posterior movement for the body
Sagittal Plane that divides the body into left and right
Superficial Closer to the surface of the body
Superior Describes a position above or higher than another part of the body proper
Supination Movement that turns the palm up
Transverse Plane that divided the body into superior and inferior parts
Ventral Sometimes used or anterior, it means he’s soft surface
