Range of Motion
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Rotation | The movement of the bone or limb moving in a circle |
| Flexion | When two bones are coming close together. Example: your arms or knees bending |
| Dorsiflexion | Bending the foot comes closer to the body. Example: flexing your foot |
| Extension | When the angle becomes larger. Example: stretching your arms |
| Abduction | Moving the arm out from the side of the body |
| Circumduction | Moving in a circle at a joint. Example: arm circles |
| Adduction | Moving closer to the midline |
| Plantarflexion | The top of the foot that point away from the body |
| Inversion | Lift medial border of the foot |
| Eversion | Lift lateral border of the foot |
| Radial Deviation | Move toward radial styloid (thumb side) |
| Ulnar Deviation | Move toward ulnar styloid (pinky side) |
| Supination | Rotate palm up |
| Pronation | Rotate palm down |
| Medial Rotation | Anterior surface rotates medially |
| Lateral rotation | Anterior surface rotates laterally |
