Describe China during the Tang Dynasty. Why do historians view this time as the "golden age of Chinese civiliztation?" It lasted for 300 years, Taizong conquered many landsm reformed the military, and created law codes. Culture flourished under Xuanzong rule, included Impress Wu (first woman emperor)
Why did many people turn to Buddhism during the Period of Disunion They took comfort in Buddhist teachings and that they could escape suffering and achieve a state of peace.
What was the Grand Canal? Why was it constructed? It was a canal linking northern and southern China. It carried lots of trade goods and allowed them to move goods and crops from distant agricultural areas into cities.
What types of goods did the Chinese trade? With whom did they trade? They traded tea, rice, spices, porcelain, wool, glass, gold, silver, silk, and jade and farm products. They traded with Chinese cities, Southwest Asia, Korea, and Japan.
