Apartheid "Seperatness," system of Institutionalised racial segregation that existed in South Africa and South West Africa from 1948 until the early 1990s
Indian National Party Political group in India with widely spread roots.
Ghandi Political activist, led India to independence. Trained as a lawyer and wore a white tunic. Boycotted British goods and led protests.
Nelson Mandela Former president of South Africa. Became president in 1994. Tried to stop Apartheid.
Pass Laws Form of internal passport system designed to segregate the population, manage urbanization, and allocate migrant labor.
Industrialization The development of industries in a country or region on a wide scale.
Boycott Stop buying goods.
Caste System Divides Hindus into four main categories - Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and the Shudras.
African National Congress The Republic of South Africa's governing political party. It has been the ruling party of post-apartheid South Africa since 1994.
Imperialism A nation ruling over another nation.
Colinialism The policy or practice of acquiring full or partial political control over another country, occupying it with settlers, and exploiting it economically.
Colonies Area under control by another nation.
Market Place where goods are sold
Isolation The idea of keeping a nation to itself and not expanding.
Alliance A union or association formed for mutual benefit, especially between countries or organizations.
Nationalism Nationalism is an idea and movement that promotes the interests of a particular nation

Mutiny Refusing to obey authority.
Resource Something that we get naturally that we need (natural resources)
Capital Money or assets owned by a person or people.
Century We live in the 21st century and we are talking about the 20th century.
